Intel Capital invests in 4 Chinese firms

BEIJING, June 26 (Reuters) - Intel Capital, the investment arm of software giant Intel Corp. , said on Monday it had invested in 4 Chinese firms from its $200 million (1.6 billion yuan) China Technology Fund, which was established a year ago.

The companies were Campus Media, Montage Technology, Star Softcomm and Winking Entertainment, said Intel.

The company did not reveal details about the investments, but an Intel Capital official said individual investments are usually under $5 million.

Intel Capital invested $265 million around the world in 2005, of which about 60 percent of the investments were made outside of the United States, much higher than the 40 percent in 2004.

Intel Capital focuses on both established and new technologies that promote industry standard solutions, drive Internet growth and advance the computing and communications platforms, it said. (US$=8.00 yuan)
