280 S'poreans attempt world record for longest inline skating chain

SINGAPORE : A total of 280 Singaporeans strapped on their wheels and skated to their way to a new Singapore record for the longest inline skating chain - and they hope it will eventually turn out to be a world record.

People of different ages and sizes lined up to perform the feat, making sure not to break the chain as that would render the attempt invalid.

Then, with their hands clutching the waist of the person in front, off they went past landmarks like City Hall, as over a thousand people cheered them on.

It was smiles all round as they neared the end, completing the feat of more than 200 people on inline skates covering a minimum distance of 200 metres.

The feat, organised by Samsung, will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records. - CNA /ct
