LEAD: Princess Kiko, newborn baby leave hospital
(Kyodo) _ (EDS: UPDATING WITH DISCHARGE FROM HOSPITAL)
Princess Kiko, the wife of Emperor Akihito's second son, and her newborn son Prince Hisahito were discharged Friday afternoon from the hospital where she gave birth last week, to move in to her husband Prince Akishino's residence in Tokyo's Akasaka district.
The new prince, the first heir born to the Japanese imperial family in nearly 41 years, appeared before the public for the first time when he and his parents left Aiiku Hospital in Tokyo's Minato Ward together.
Prince Hisahito, who was given his name on Tuesday, begins living with the rest of his family -- his parents and sisters Princess Mako and Princess Kako -- at their residence on the grounds of the Akasaka Estate, where Crown Prince Naruhito, Prince Akishino's elder brother, and his family also live.
Princess Kiko, 40, and her 9-day-old son are both in good health, according to the Imperial Household Agency. The princess has changed his diapers herself most of the time, while the newborn prince has been nursing and crying boisterously, the agency said.
Prince Hisahito will stay in a room with a space of just over 13 square meters with a crib on the residence's second floor, and a full-time nurse and two part-time nurses will stand by to provide care, according to the agency.
Princess Kiko was hospitalized Aug. 16 to prepare for her childbirth by Caesarean section due to pregnancy complications. She gave birth by the procedure, the first by an imperial member, on Sept. 6.
Under the male-only succession law, Prince Hisahito, the emperor's first grandson, is third in line to the imperial throne behind his uncle Crown Prince Naruhito, 46, the emperor's eldest son, and his father Prince Akishino, 40.
Prince Akishino's two daughters, Princess Mako and Princess Kako, are 14 and 11 years old. He and Princess Kiko, college sweethearts, were married in June 1990.
