Softbank Mobile unveils new fee system on number portability launch

Softbank Mobile Corp. President Masayoshi Son said Monday that Japan's third-largest mobile phone operator will introduce a new fee system featuring fixed charges for basic monthly fees and free calls and e-mails between subscribers.
The new system, to be put in place Thursday, is intended to grab customers away from Softbank Mobile's two bigger rivals -- NTT DoCoMo Inc. and KDDI Corp. -- on the occasion of Japan's introduction of mobile number portability Tuesday.
