Thai Glow Energy to expand power capacity
BANGKOK, Dec 6 (Reuters) - Thai utility Glow Energy PCL
said on Wednesday it would build a new power plant to
expand capacity by 120-140 megawatts after signing two
contracts with petrochemical companies of the Siam Cement
group.
Glow, controlled by French utility group Suez ,
said it signed 20-year agreements to supply power to Map Ta
Phut Olefins Co and Thai Polyethylene Co.
It would finalise the costing of the first stage of the new
plant with a 100-120 MW capacity in the first quarter of 2007,
it said in a statement.
Glow produces and supplies electricity, steam and water to
industrial customers in the Map Ta Phut industrial estate in
Rayong province and nearby.
It has a power generating capacity of 1,709 MW, or 7
percent of Thailand's capacity.
Suez group owns 69.11 percent of the Thai firm, according
to stock exchange data.
At 0406 GMT, Glow shares were unchanged at 32 baht, while
the main Thai stock market index was 0.44 percent
higher.
