SYDNEY, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Australia's giant Cannington
silver, lead and zinc mine reopened two days after being shut
following the death of a worker, owner BHP Billiton Ltd./Plc.
said.
A BHP Billiton spokeswoman said operations resumed at the
mine at the start of the evening shift on Dec. 17.
The mine, in eastern Queensland state, was closed on Dec.
15 following the death of a 19-year-old worker who was believed
to have been performing electrical work.
Cannington is the world's largest single source of silver
and lead.
The mine produced 5.7 million ounces of silver, 48,977
tonnes of lead and 10,426 tonnes of zinc in the quarter ended
Sept. 30.
