"Midnight Cat Killers" and "50-dollar men" among MediaCorp News Awards winners
SINGAPORE: Midnight Cat Killers and 50-dollar men were just 2 of the stories that clinched top prizes at this year's MediaCorp News Awards. The plight of foreign workers selling themselves for just 50 dollars in Little India was featured in one of the episodes on Channel NewsAsia current affairs programme, "Get Rea!" The producer behind the story, Amelia Loh walked away with the "News Story of the Year" award. Another MediaCorp News winner comes from the Chinese current affairs team which featured Midnight Cat Killers after receiving tip-offs from viewers. They won the award for "Story of the Year with Public Participation" MediaCorp Radio also took home the same award for a 2-part series on Advanced Medical Directive.
Accolades also went to Channel NewsAsia's documentary "Indonesia: On the Ring of Fire" for the "Feature Story of the Year", and 2 reporters from the TODAY newspaper won both the Young Journalist and Journalist of the Year awards. - CNA /dt
