Singapore community in Jakarta gives more aid to flood victims

The Singapore community in Jakarta continues to provide assistance to victims of the recent floods that hit the capital.

Flood survivors are now fighting diseases such as diarrhoea, dengue fever and leptospirosis.

The Singapore Embassy in Jakarta together with the Singapore Association in Indonesia and Singapore Technologies Telemedia contributed medical aid and essential supplies worth US$22,000 on Wednesday.

The aid was handed over by Singapore's Ambassador Ashok Mirpuri to Indonesia's Health Minister Dr Siti Fadilah Supari.

This contribution is the latest by the Singapore community in Jakarta.

So far Singaporeans and Singapore companies in Indonesia have contributed more than US$75,000 in the aftermath of the worst floods in Jakarta in the last five years. - CNA/ch
