MediaCorp's New Media strategy offers advertisers greater creativity
SINGAPORE: Media giant MediaCorp will be offering advertisers the chance to have greater creativity in their ad campaigns and a more precise reach to their clients with a series of online and mobile initiatives this year. This was announced at a New Media trade networking event on Friday. One such initiative is an online marketplace for Singaporeans to trade their wares, which could be launched as soon as two months' time. This will fulfil the growing demand of a highly affluent online community on a local wide web. Lucas Chow, CEO, MediaCorp also said, "MediaCorp has been preparing itself to engage in the New Media Frontier. I'm proud to say our efforts have been rewarded with high traffic and industry recognition." "The inclusion of New Media into the marketing mix has become today's buzzword for the savvy marketeer. Smart advertisers are looking at stretching their dollar across multiple platforms," said Timothy Goh, Vice-President, New Media Business/CRM. Integrating traditional and new media ideas will be a dedicated phase of MediaCorp's businesses and its platforms are poised to engage this new frontier.
Mediacorp's CEO gave no details of initiatives planned, except to say that the company has drawn up something "very interesting" and most probably unseen on the local advertising scene. "This will definitely be a new form of exposing advertising to new markets and even new advertisers," he said. Mr Chow pointed out that it's now common for a person to watch television on the Internet while answering email at the same time - this trend described as media meshing is what advertisers need to be aware of to reach consumers from more than one platform. "I am sure that slowly but surely, all our clients will think about use of the New Media," said Mediacorp's CEO. With 71 years of radio and 44 years of television experience, MediaCorp is a pioneer in the development of Singapore's broadcasting history. As the largest broadcaster in Singapore, the company also offers Print and Electronic media, with 30 websites developed for New Media advertising. - CNA /dt
