3 S. Korean, 8 Filipino workers released in Nigeria
(Kyodo) _ Three South Korean workers and eight Filipino workers, kidnapped last week in Nigeria, were released Wednesday and are in safe hands, South Korea's Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry said in a statement.
"The (South Korean) government has closely cooperated with the governments of Nigeria and the Philippines to secure an early and safe release of the kidnapped people," the statement said.
The released workers from South Korea's Daewoo Engineering and Construction Co. were kidnapped by unidentified insurgents last Thursday in River State in the Niger Delta area.
