Thaksin says ruling against party "too harsh"
BANGKOK (Reuters) - Ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin
Shinawatra criticised the disbanding of his party and ban on
its leadership for breaking election laws as "too harsh", his
lawyer said on Wednesday.
"It is an unexpected ruling and we are disappointed by the
verdict. It's too harsh on Thai Rak Thai," Thaksin's lawyer and
spokesman Noppadon Pattama told Reuters in Bangkok.
Thaksin, who is living in exile in London after he was
ousted in a bloodless coup last year, and 110 other top party
leaders were banned from politics for 5 years for breaking
election laws.
His Thai Rak Thai party was also ordered dissolved.
