Royal couple visit Nagano
(Kyodo) _ Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako arrived Friday in Nagano Prefecture with the princess performing her first official duty outside the capital in seven months.
The couple plan to attend a national greenery ceremony to be held Saturday in Azumino in the prefecture.
They visited Nara in October last year, which was the princess's first official trip to a locality in 15 months.
Since December 2003, Crown Princess Masako has relinquished most of her official duties and remained largely out of public view. She was diagnosed in July 2004 with adjustment disorder, a mental condition attributable in part to pressures on her to produce a male heir.
The imperial couple were married in June 1993 and had their first child, Princess Aiko, in December 2001.
