IN THE PAPERS [PRESS/RU]:

Vedomosti business daily reports on its front page that state-controlled oil company Rosneft and billionaire Oleg Deripaska were Russia's biggest deal makers in 2006 and the first half of 2007, spending $20 billion and $5 billion respectively on mergers and acquisitions.

Vedomosti also reports that Aeroflot will pay $5.81 billion for 44 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus -- a significant discount from their market price of $7 billion.

The newspaper also carries an interview with Kirill Pisarev, president of property developer PIK Group, in which he says proceeds from a June IPO will be used to acquire new projects and to pay off some of the company's debt of about $800 million.

Kommersant business daily reports on its front page that state arms trader Rosoboronexport is creating a company to modernise refuelling depots in Russian airports.
