Tuesday August 21, 11:38 AMNikkei rises 2 pct, tops 16,000 as yen softensTOKYO, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The Nikkei share average rose more than 2 percent to break above 16,000 by early afternoon on Tuesday with automaker Toyota Motor Corp and other major exporters extending a winning streak on a softening yen.The Nikkei average climbed 2.06 percent to 16,057.26 as of 0334 GMT. The TOPIX was up 2.53 percent at 1,562.12. |
