Friday October 26, 9:47 PMTwo Salvador Dali sculptures to be auctioned off for charitySINGAPORE : Two sculptures by renowned artist Salvador Dali will be auctioned off for charity.The sculptures - "Alice In Wonderland" and "Woman of Time" - have a market value of at least US$45,000 each. Put up for silent auction, the starting price is US$25,000 per sculpture. Opera Gallery, which is conducting the auction, hopes to raise at least US$200,000, and the proceeds will go towards St John's Home for Elderly Persons. The last day to place one's bid is November 25. Cedric Tan, The Opera Gallery Singapore, said, "Dali obviously is a very major artist of this century. But to me, his works have always managed to put a smile on people's face. So I think it's very befitting that this year, we would donate two of his pieces back for this charitable cause." - CNA/ms |
