RIM shares help boost Nasdaq

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Nasdaq rose more than 1 percent on Friday, helped by gains in shares of Research In Motion Ltd after RBC Capital Markets raised its price target on the BlackBerry maker.

The Nasdaq Composite Index rose more than 1 percent before cutting some of those gains to be up 22.46 points, or 0.98 percent, at 2,303.29.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 72.86 points, or 0.59 percent, at 12,375.32. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 8.53 points, or 0.64 percent, at 1,334.29.
