High Court dismisses Stansfield's application for a summary judgement

SINGAPORE: The High Court has dismissed Stansfield College's application for a summary judgement against the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE).

The private education group had asked for damages from CASE without trial.

Stansfield had alleged that it had suffered losses of around S$20 million because of its CaseTrust membership suspension.

Stansfield argued that the suspension had tarnished its commercial reputation in Singapore and internationally and students have subsequently withdrew their applications.

The High Court has also awarded costs in favour of CASE.

In a statement, CASE said it believed that this decision reflects the strength of its defence and it will continue to vigorously defend Stansfield's claim. - CNA/vm
