Soccer: Nakata to play in exhibition match in June
(Kyodo) _ Former Japan midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata, who retired after his country made a first-round exit at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, said Tuesday he will play in an exhibition match featuring overseas star players on June 7 in Yokohama.
Nakata, 31, will play on the Japan Stars team in the match, dubbed the "Plus One Football Match," against the World Stars, led by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, at Nissan Stadium.
Japan Football Association Vice President Kunishige Kamamoto will manage the Japan Stars. It will be Nakata's first match in Japan since going into retirement.
