Oman Sees Vietnam's Market Potential: Minister

HANOI, April 25 Asia Pulse - Vietnam, since its World Trade Organisation accession, has emerged as a potential market of great interests from the Gulf countries, especially Oman, said Oman Minister of National Economy Ahmed Macki.

The minister paid an official visit to Vietnam from April 15 to 19 where he met Deputy Permanent Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung and held working sessions with Minister of Finance Vu Van Ninh, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc and leaders of major local businesses.

The minister said Oman wants to cooperate with Vietnam in finance-banking, oil and gas, coal, real estate and resorts building.

Oman is also willing to train and receive Vietnamese guest workers.

Vietnam and Oman have agreed to establish a Joint Committee to be co-chaired by the two countries Ministers of Trade. The two countries also signed an agreement on double taxation avoidance, a deal to establish an investment fund, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Vinaconex Tourism Investment and Development JSC and Oman's State General Reserve Fund.
