S'pore Arts Festival brings street performances to hawker centres
SINGAPORE : Residents at Tampines Street 11 were pleasantly surprised to be entertained by street performers when dining at a hawker centre. The performances are part of a new segment under The Singapore Arts Festival Outreach programme called "Arts Where We Eat". This is the first time that arts festival organisers are teaming with the National Environment Agency (NEA) to bring arts events to the heartlands. Performers include a 12-year-old Singaporean guitarist Erwin Adam and a French pianist from Pomme D'or. There will be street performances at four popular hawker centres over four weekends. Residents can catch the performances at Newton Food Centre (May 31 - June 1, 7-9pm), Tiong Bahru Market (June 7-8, 9-11am) and East Coast Lagoon Village (June 14-15, 7-9pm). - CNA /ls
