Malaysia Airlines Launches Zero Fare Campaign in Thailand
BANGKOK, June 11 Asia Pulse - With zero fare tickets and packages from as low as 3,419 Baht (US$ 103.50), Malaysia Airlines (MAS) (KLSE:3786) has launched its third wave of promotions to attract the huge Thai and lucrative expatriate community markets in Thailand.Vijayakumaran Avili, MAS Area Manager in Thailand, said the packages offered include a minimum three-day/two-night hotel stay and flights from Bangkok and Phuket to any of the airline's Asean destinations, as well as to selected cities in China, South Asia and Australia. He said MAS was joining forces with Tourism Malaysia to offer a wide range of travel destinations in Malaysia, as well as with Krungthai Card PCL (KTC), Thailand's leading credit card and consumer finance company which gives purchasers using its cards the opportunity to win prizes worth over 200,000 Baht. MAS and KTC had also offered travel packages to watch English Premier League (EPL) matches with special flexi payment and low interest. "We received tremendous response in the Thai market for our Everyday Low Fares (ELF) campaign. With packages being thrown in, we are confident the response will be even better," he said at the joint launch with Sani Sham Ahmad, Director of Tourism Malaysia for Thailand. Vijayakumaran said they are hoping that the latest promotions would be able to attract the vast expatriate communities in Thailand, which includes at least 60,000 Japanese working or residing in the kingdom, as well as thousands of Koreans and westerners.
He said customers can book online through www.malaysiaairlines.com for their economy class tickets from June 9 to 22 for travel between July 15 and December 14. The MAS offers start from zero Baht and cover a total of 28 flights weekly out of Bangkok and 14 flights weekly from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur while giving the luxury of enjoying its Golden Lounge service when travelling on economy class with onward immediate connection and with a transit time of more than two hours at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Vijayakumaran said customers would experience Malaysia Airlines' 5-Star services such as refreshment on board, convenient schedules and 20kg free baggage allowance, while Enrich Frequent Flyer Programme members can attain a free round trip to Kuala Lumpur from either Bangkok or Phuket upon returning from long haul travels on MAS. Sani Sham said both MAS and Tourism Malaysia have secured seven key agents to develop ELF packages to Malaysia, with a package price that includes breakfast, transfer and free "Hop On Hop Off" city tour. "We have many attractive destinations in Malaysia, such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. This is a good opportunity for Thais and others to visit Malaysia," he said. Besides destinations in Malaysia, Vijayakumaran said, the airline also offered joint promotions with Club Med in Kuantan, with Tourism New Zealand which offers "Winter Wonderland...New Zealand" and with South African Tourism for leisure travel to Cape Town and Johanessburg.
