Sri Lankan woman caught with reusable pieces of immigration stamp imprints at airport

SINGAPORE: A 29-year-old Sri Lankan woman was caught with pieces of forged immigration rubber stamp imprints at Changi Airport Terminal 1 on Tuesday.

She had hidden them in a pair of pants in her luggage.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) says such portable imprints are likely to be used by syndicates offering services to immigration offenders to prolong or legalise their stay.

The penalties for overstaying or illegal entry are a jail term of up to six months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane.
