Saturday July 19, 11:51 AMFukuda to meet Hu, Wen in Beijing(Kyodo) _ Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda is considering meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao separately when he visits Beijing on Aug. 8 to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, government sources said Saturday.The two countries are now arranging the schedules, they said. After arriving in Beijing on Aug. 8, Fukuda will fly back to Japan to attend an anniversary ceremony of the atomic bombing the next day in Nagasaki. As his travel schedule is tight, the meetings with the two Chinese leaders will last 20 to 30 minutes, the sources said. The meetings have been proposed by the Chinese side, which shows their interest in maintaining friendly ties with Japan, they added. |
