Wall Street opens lower on earnings jitters
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks fell at the open on Thursday
after disappointing earnings from companies, including Dow
Chemical and Ford Motor Co , which left investors
worried about the corporate profit outlook.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 40.79 points,
or 0.35 percent, at 11,591.59, and the Standard & Poor's 500
Index declined 2.32 points, or 0.18 percent, at
1,279.87. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 5.29
points, or 0.23 percent, at 2,320.59.
