6.9 magnitude quake hits Kyrgyzstan - USGS

WASHINGTON, Oct 5 (Reuters) - A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Sary-Tash in the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan on Sunday at 9:52 p.m. local time (1552 GMT), the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake hit 38 miles (61 km) east of Sary-Tash at a depth of 20.5 miles (33 km), the survey reported.
