Tropical weather returns to the Western Pacific on Wednesday. Tropical Depression Twentyseven located northeast of Mindanao will hover over the eastern Philippines for the next few days. Expect periods of heavy rain and strong winds with gusts up to 63 kph in the area. Waves will reach a maximum 3.4 meters.
Tropical Storm Nida southeast of Guam is expected to intensify as it tracks northwestward over warm waters, just past the southern Marina Islands. By Wednesday it will strengthen to a category 1 Typhoon with winds gusting up to 120-153 kph and waves a maximum 4.9 meters.
A strong low pressure system will push northeastward past the southern edge of Japan and bring moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms to eastern Japan. Expect rainy conditions in Tokyo with highs in the lower teens Celsius. High pressure will build over China, the East China Sea, and stretch into the Sea of Japan bringing mild weather with few clouds over these areas.
Beijing will see patchy clouds with highs near 6 C, while Hong Kong will be sunny with highs in the lower 20s C. Shanghai will also see mostly sunny skies with highs near 16 C.
A low pressure through will track through South Australia and into New South Wales on Wednesday. As this system pushes southeastward, it will create a front that will extend well into Queensland. Expect scattered showers to pop up anywhere along this front with clouds developing ahead of the system. Sydney will see overcast skies with highs 26 C.
